SCHRADE WALDEN N.Y. PUSH BUTTON STAINLESS QUESTIONS
I DIDNT RECOGNIZE THIS KNIFE RIGHT AWAY AND JUMPED IN BIDDING. SCHRADE WALDEN N.Y. TWO BLADES. I WILL GIVE YOU THE STORY THEY GAVE ME. THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A PARATROOPERS KNIFE BECAUSE OF THE SECOND BLADE AND COLOR. I NEED HELP TO IDENTIFY IT AND WHEN MADE. ALSO IF ITS RARE. I HOPE I WASNT FED A LINE.

Re: SCHRADE WALDEN N.Y. PUSH BUTTON STAINLESS QUESTIONS
It is an MC-1 parachutists' knife issued to pilots in the 1960's.There were a couple manufacturers of them and they come up for sale occasionally(although not on e-Bay unless they sneak it through). I have one left(traded a couple away)that is a Schrade. The only real difference I can see between them is the button on one is smaller and unplated. I could never understand why they didn't put the shroud line cutter(the hook)on the button side as that was the knife's primary function. I don't know the going price for them now but they seem to fetch pretty decent money. As an aside when I got my first one(from a parachute rigger in the Navy in 1965)the Navy's cost was just over $3 per knife.

Re: SCHRADE WALDEN N.Y. PUSH BUTTON STAINLESS QUESTIONS
As said in the above post there were 3 different manufacturers of them , Schrade Walden , Camillus and Logan Smyth, all were orange Paratrooper knives and are not rare ., as to the placement of the shroud cutter it was typically carried/pocketed in the open position hence forth the placement of the lanyard /bail hook on the opposite end . The clip blade was the secondary cutting edge and assisted for emergency use. Heres one I had laying around and tore up for fun. :Dhttp://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_foru ... 14&t=46442

Colonial Knife Company still sells a version of that knife (http://www.colonialknifecorp.com/collec ... ger-combat) although I believe it is manufacturer elsewhere.

The 1950 Navy knife is $400. Not sure I would pay that for the real thing.

The "Paratrooper's Knife" (Model 724) is manufactured right here in the United States of America. The primary difference between those made from the 1940's through the 1960's and those made by Colonial today is those manufactured today are coil fired and possess 440C steel blades.bestgear wrote:Colonial Knife Company still sells a version of that knife (http://www.colonialknifecorp.com/collec ... ger-combat) although I believe it is manufacturer elsewhere.
Believe me, the M724 of today is far superior to those of days gone by.
