Craftsman American Eagle Collection

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Craftsman American Eagle Collection

Post by kootenay joe »

I have a Schrade made Craftsman/USA SS 8 1/8" fixed blade with a 4 3/8" saber clip blade and saw-cut Delrin handles along with a heavy duty "Top Grain Cowhide" sheath.
The box is marked "Sears/Craftsman American Eagle Collection"
I think this is the same knife as a 41OT aka "The Maverick".
I think this Sears "Eagle Collection" had 5 or 6 ? knives in it ?
Were these all released at the same time or was a new pattern introduced every few months ?
Are the production numbers known ?
Did these come out in late 1960's or in 1970's ?
If you have pictures of the other knives in this "collection" please post them.
Thank you for your help, kj
