Re: Christians Solingen
The only thing i can say about these knives is that they are rarely seen here in North America. Anthony Carter's book on German Knife Manufacturers says the Christians brothers started the business in Solingen in 1824 and was a maker of "metalware, knives, swords, daggers & scissors". There is a sketch showing the Gebruder Christians factory circa 1910 and it looks huge. The last address given for this business is from 1971. I don't know if they are still in business but google would know.

Re: Christians Solingen
Here's one I lucked onto.
I'd long wanted a nacre covered knife, but most of them didn't do anything for me. The vast majority I saw were strange looking lobsters or dainty little penknives. I found this one a year or so ago while surfing the web one sleepless night. At 3.5" closed it's a great size. The serpentine pattern is also one of my favorites. The fact that I share the name on the tang clinched the deal. It's almost like this knife was made for me.

Re: Christians Solingen
Christian, what is "nacre" ?
British say "i'm all (K)nacred out" but it's not the same nacre.
