1940 - 1964 Case Cheetah swing guard issue

I got this 1940 - 1964 Case 6111 1/2 Cheetah a few months ago. The swing guard seems to be a bit loose, allowing the guards to spread open too far. Upon closing the knife, the swing guards tend to get caught on the handles, making you have to manually squeeze the guards closer together to close the knife. Any ideas how this could be fixed?

It appears that the guard needs to be re-pinned. That would tighten things up and allow both pieces to function as designed.
