If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Parkers Greatest Knife Show

Post by Forensic Jim »

I'm making plans to go to Parkers knife show in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. this Dec. Anyone have any past experience with this show either as a dealer or a buyer? This will be my first big show with the exception of the Wolverine Knife Club show.

Jim,
I have been several times in years past. This year it is in a new location and I do have a table there so will look forward to meeting you there.
Since it is in a new location, I really can't give you much help. I have always enjoyed the show and consider it 2nd only to the Eugene, Oregon show.
It may be a little different now since Jim Parker has passed. I believe I have been once since his death. There is usually a good auction on Sat night. I talked to Bruce Voyles, who puts on the auction, and he was a little shakey as to whether or not the auction would go on. Some sort of logistical problems.
I can tell you it is a big show for Case knives. I am really looking forward to it.

Paladin This made me think...

You could be playing the "Paladin theme song at your booth... ::nod::

At a show like that YOU are sure to attract more customers... ::nod::

The longer they look the more they will buy.... 8)

I think I would even stand by your table just to hear it ... 8)

It would be a some thing to think about ?

I try and go every year and hope to be there Thursday morning/early afternoon and Saturday night for the auction. If Bruce has an auction that night, he usually has a table set up for preview at the show, it is posted on his site as of now.
I liked the Spring show better, but Knife Kid or Blade Runner one said that the NKCA show in Knoxville took its place.

They are having it in Sevierville this year. First year in a new building with a new lay out. I call it the Civic center, but it goes but another name. I grew around here and know the landmarks/roads, but not names.......if that makes any sense. Plus it is closer to Interstate I-40 and SMKW, you need to stop by the museum since you are in the hood.
If you go up into the national park, please check your "Human Rights" at the door.

Now.......back to the Tennessee/Alabama game. Go Vols

9ball :)

EDIT later in the day :Believe it or not, our dogs just won 50 bucks on a football board  .
If things do not look better shortly, I guess Monday they will be talking about Gruen comming here to coach again.

We had a trade show this past week-end at the new place where Parker's show will be held this year and I can say it is "Sharp". It is only about six miles on the right from I-40 exit, very easy to find. On the right hand side of the highway.
We used to set up/have it in Gatlinburg and this place is about twice the size. We went from 500 booths to 750.
I checked Bruce Voyle's site sometime last week and the auction has been cancelled also, so I guess I will come over Friday and Saturday. I will be easy to reconize. I am starting to let my nails grow at this time.

BTW: NKCA is having a show in Knoxville again same place as before at the end of December. I think it was KnifeKid that told me they could have filled they upper level up if they would have known there was that much space. Firearms are on the lower level, I will post a link for dollar off when they send them out.

More later, it has been a long week.......
