Tested Era Case 11031sh w/concave grind

Post by gsmith7158 »

This one may or may not be the real deal but I had never seen one before so I thought I'd throw it on the wall and what response I got. It is listed in Sargents 7th edition but there are no pics. I don't believe I've noticed this stamp on a folder this small before. What say ye experts?

Greg, I believe that knife is fine. Everything looks right to me. What are your concerns?

Tom when I first looked at it I guess I was following that tarnish line on the C and thought it looked kind of like a block C but I have magnified it and I see now that I was following the wrong line.I guess I should be more concerned about my eye sight than the knife. :( I had not seen one of these with that concave grind before.

Can’t say as I have ever seen one either with the concave blade but I do know that some were produced that way. Probably not lucrative enough to fake as counterfeits go as well. I remember Jim Sargent telling me to look at the patina on the blade, stamp, and knife to see if it flows together. To me this knife meets that test.

Yes probably not enough value for the counterfeiter there in the first place. Kind of a cool conversation piece though.

Cool knife Greg! I have a concave ground one from the XX era. Its stamped 11031SHCC. From what little I've been able to find out I dont think many were made with the concave grind.

Thanks David! I had never seen one before but I saw them listed in Sargents so I snagged that one. :D
