Odd Case Knife

Post by just bob »

I agree with the seller that I've never seen anything like this but that doesn't mean much. I formed an opinion right off, but is it real or fake?

Judging by his description of the knife he is a BS artist from wayback.

The bottle opener is definitely not from the Tested era. It looks like those found on Camillus Scout knives from the 1960s and later. Brass stud looks welded on; and not original to the implement. In my non-expert opinion--FAKE!

One of a kind - thankfully - Frankenknife.

By continuing to use "prototype" in the description, he is giving himself an out if it is fake.

I just took some pictures and was starting to post this one when I discovered you guys were already on it! I do hope that Steve Pfeiffer and other experts take a look. I am guessing that it is a Case Tested 3-blade 131 frame that has received a transplant of non-canoe blades. However, I've never seen a 131 with other than bone or stag scales. The seller was clear in the description that he doesn't know what it is ( I have been selling knives a long time now and I have never seen a knife quite like this. With all of the research I have done, I cannot find another knife to match it. May possibly be a prototype knife. I can find no others to match this model whatsoever. This knife may be a prototype.). I would have made it clear that this thing may also have just been cobbled together from parts.

The whole thing looks odd to me. ::td:: ::td:: In fact I’d say it’s goofy. I agree with the Frankenknife theory.

The posted knife is junk. Case never made anything remotely resembling it. The main hawkbill blade may be real but is from a different knife.
