25th Anniversary Old Timer

Hey LT,

I found a 34OT with sterling silver bolsters at a flea market recently. From the looks of it not only are the bolsters sterling silver but also the shield. It says 25th Anniversary and has a Schrade Walden tang stamp. The rear tang of the clip blade says 34OT/S.S.
The handles are smooth bone. I need to clean some of the tarnish from the silver, but one bolster is numbered with the serial number 1608. (You can see it with a glass easier than in the scan.) The other bolster says; “STERLING” in the groove of the bolster and it says Sterling under OLD TIMER on the shield.

My question is: When was this knife made?
Is the anniversary commemorating 25 years of Schrade Walden?
If so that would date the knife at about 1971.

Any help you or anyone else can give me on this will be appreciated.

Hey Dale,

Not masquerading as the one and only LT.....

But 'til he comes around...I believe that was made in 1984 as a run of 5,000 (or so), to celebrate the Silver (get it

) Anniversary of the Old Timer. Hopefully, he can add much more.

Actually Fran, I did find this one myself. I looked at some others the floks had for sale & then they pulled out this one so I bought it as well as a couple others.

Thanks for the info. That would be about right to commemorate Old Timer. I think the 2OT came out in the catalogs about 1961.

Nice knife the Old Timer Silver Anniversary 34OT, new they came in a wood box with a soft cloth blue pouch with Old Timer in silver thread across the front. great find, several years ago I purchased one (newbie)
thought the scales were made of wood,

Just a little clarification..

The 2OT was available in 1959. 8OT in early 60 the 58OT later in 60.
A couple flyers from 1960 is on my site with them both.

Thank you Larry for the clarification of the dates & the link to the flyers.

I did find that I already had the Silver Anniversary pouch that came with the knife. IIRC, LT had sent me one in a batch of things a while back. I guess that it is a good thing that I never throw anything, (much to my wife’s chargin).

Your wife sounds like mine. A knife guy just needs a lot of stuff, cause you never know what you need. Throw something out, sure as shootin you'll need it next week.

She may be turning over a new opinion though since I've sold some of my knives, sold a bunch of other makers knives on eBay along with some wood and I have no bills and a bit of money in the bank.
