Wolstenholm knife

I have a knife Tang stamp with a crown on it with a g and a r under the crown. Then wolstenholm and patent on the blades says silver steel. Was this made by George Wolstenholm the maker of ixl.

The short answer to your question is likely "Yes".
However some vintage knives have been altered and the blades are not original to the knife. These are called "Fakes". Hence to be sure of what you have, we need to see good in focus pictures. If you look around on this site you can see many examples of what views to take, basically, entire knife, both sides, blades closed and both sides, blades open, and then close up's enlarged to show the markings (name, numbers, symbols).

Silver steel was stamped on a lot of the straight razors as well as some knives.(inserted wrong dates here, edited out). Sounds legit but pics definitely help

Could not possibly be 1831-1837. That would be the reign of William IV and the knife has a King George royal warrant symbol. The question here is which George. Wostenholm did not adopt the IXL trademark until 1787 which was under the reign of George III. If the mark is made with a hand cut die it could be George II, III, or IV, machine made stamps George V or VI. We need to see the knife and marks.

Don't worry Eric, I have been guilty of the same thing on occasion. Sure would like to see the knife, could be quite interesting if it is a pre-IXL Wostenholm, or even a George III or IV knife.

Once you hit Post Reply you'll see "Attachments" on the bottom of the page. Hit that, then "ad files" which should bring up your photo files. Double click on your photo, then hit "Place Inline" which should place the photo wherever your cursor is. I've never done it from a phone but i'd imagine it's similar.

No blade wobble, good snap, super sharp and good handles. I gave $7.00 bucks for it.

I agree with Gino and also think it blade on the right is nice but the rest??? Don't like the pins or the way the white stuff, the handles. look like.

The problem is the camera is focusing on things that are three feet away. *113 if when you're taking the picture you tap the screen on the point you want in focus, the camera should automatically take the shot on that point almost immediately. There's usually a second or so lag time.

Both blades have king George warrant mark on them. G and a R then wolstenholm and patent under it. Both blades have silver steel stamped on them. The handles are ivory. This is a very old knife.

I have already turned down a $100 offer. The knife is legit.

With the pictures being so blurry it's hard to tell if the handles are ivory, looks like bone to me.
Clear pictures may prove me wrong.
If it was mine and someone offered me $100, it would be gone, JMO.
