Heavy Metal Handles
I use to pass these up, especially the cheap Asian-mades. But I like the old, personalized, awards. advertisers. Here's a few.

That ZIPPO is all stainless. The lighting makes the handle look dark. It's brushed stainless. J.O'.

Re: Heavy Metal Handles
Nice grouping you have there Ridgegrass. I like that your Monroe Hardware Co. is dated... no question that is a 60+ year old knife. Is your "Safety First Pay's" knife marked on the other side? I wonder which company gave that away as a safety award?
Here are two that fall into your metal handle / advertising category. These arrived a few days ago in a pile I bought from Roland (aka kj). Like your Monroe, no question when the Kraft Miracle Whip knife was made. It's a Schrade Cut Co.
The other is a Griffon and the handles are sterling silver (marked "920/1000").

That National Cutlery from Germany has the exact same scales as the PROVIDENCE I had in the Mystery game and the Cattaraugus in the Ritchie and Stewart Catalog reprint. Wonder who jobbed those castings? J.O'.

Re: Heavy Metal Handles
Very recently I added this, new to me, all metal pocket knife to my collection. It is NOT in my previously posted group pictures. It's a VALLEY FORGE, 2 blade, 3 3/16" closed, pocket knife. Each blade has a tang stamp, one more legible than the other. The "VF" in a double circle stamp, is on the handle on each side of the pocket knife. I gave it a cleaning, took some pictures and here it is.

DEO-PA; That knife must have never been awarded to anyone. As you can see on the reverse it says "SAFETY AWARD: on the left but was never engraved to anyone. Don't know what company gave them out. The knife is stamped "CUTTER"U.S.A.. Only example I've seen. Thanks, J.O'.

Re: Heavy Metal Handles
Goins' says that stamp is 1930-1960. If correct, my guess is yours is on the earlier side, as I think a 1960s era knife would have a simpler design with less embellishments. No other info in Goins'. Anyone know anything about the CUTTER name and its history? The knife is stamped "CUTTER"U.S.A.
