Case 6380 ebay

Is the shield and the scales right here....thought that shield was for older knives and not sure I've seen that color red for 70s...might be fine but new to me

Have to agree, that is a strange one. Shield looks like Tested or early XX but the master is stamped with U.S.A. dots. ::shrug::

Agree. And that bone color does not look right to me. Maybe it is, but I would be cautious if it was my money.

The bone looks like the 1989 centennial bone and the shield looks like a glue in someone has filed on to try and make it fit the opening. If original the shield should be pinned on. Does anyone see pins there - I don't?

The way the shield sits on that knife does look very suspicious. Not a
close fit that's for sure.

Looks like the ends of the shield have been filed into points. It's the wrong shield for a 1970's knife anyway. And I've never seen that color bone on a 1970's Case knife. Very suspicious. ::hmm::

Odd to see an older shield put into a knife along with a newer blade. Guess they forgot to re-stamp the blade.

Are you sure that's an older shield? Looks like a modern glue in to me. I don't see any pins? The knife may be 100% Case, but put together from parts of different years.

Not much on Case , but look at marks on center pin , poor job installing shield , believe it’s been rehandled at least.

To me, the shield looks like a Case Classics shield rather than an old Case shield. Bone looks modern, color and jigging are wrong.

Maybe someone started with a Delrin dotted 6380 and upgraded it to bone.

You may be right - I was just going by the closed C, tall S configuration. My post was intended as a comment about the oddity of a counterfeiter putting what looks like an older shield on it without changing the stamp. Usually we see the opposite - a blade altered to have an older stamping, with handles and shield from a newer knife.

It could be from a Case Classics knife as Steve says. I agree with his theory about it possibly originally being a Delrin knife that has been messed up. One thing fairly certain is it ain’t right.

Ken; I agree tall S...but look at the letters...compare to a real XX shield.

I'm assuming you have no idea what the word Deloris means - other than a woman's name. I suggest you look the word up in an urban dictionary and come back in and edit your post. That type of language shouldn't be tolerated on here. Are you actually saying a woman named Deloris put the shield in? I'm confused.

::dang:: Spell checker strikes again. Yes it should say Delrin. I edited it.

Bob, I know nothing about Deloris. But I’m glad you apparently do. ::shrug:: And thanks for catching my error.
