The man's name is Frank Giorgianni. He worked for Schrade for decades. He signed nearly every piece he did with his full last name. He was good enough to help you with your research. You can't even bother to get his name right.

Working in an asylum for the criminally insane does give you some unusual experiences. Like creative cuffing class that was when after some of the senior officers had downed couple of shots of thorazene to chase the previous nights hangovers. They would bring out a bug ( inmate ) and procede to turn him into a facimile of a pretzel using cuffs, camisol ( straight jacket ), and various other restraints. Then they would grade there work like you would a high diver you know like from one to ten . Then they would take out another drooling mass of humanity and try to beat the other guys score.

I sold one many years ago ( for a fraction of what it is worth now ). I am including some pictures of it. It is new old stock never used. Since I had to venture out through the snow to my knife building I decided to include some pics of a 50 tys display case that I use exclusively for Schrade Walden bone knives. A lot of these came from Frank . aside from an 8 OT ( which is rare in original real bone, and the 2 other OT knives are all New old stock original Schrade Waldens. Since I am posting this it is a good time to mention a point of interest. If you look closely at these knives you will see that the jigging on some is a bit different than the old Schrade Cut Co versions. Sometimes the reasons for this are not understood. In 1957 Schrade moved to Ellenville from Walden. When that move was made some of the machinery (jigs) were either replaced or exchanged with those used by Ulster. It is close but it is slightly different. Frank worked in Ellenville. Most of these were made there. Now Schrade Waldens were made in Walden until 57. Schrade was trying to eliminate natural material (to go to the supposed wave of the future (delrin). However they did produce j bone knives for a few years in Ellenville early 60tys. Mainly to use up material they had in stock. That makes these ( bone ) the rarest of Schrades. Schrade cut was made from 03 until 46 approx. Schrade Walden until 72 approx. However the bone Schrade Waldens made in Ellenville were only made for a few years most collectors are not aware of this and may shy away from knives with a slightly different jigging that they have always seen. This small collection shows those variations creating examples and a time line. If the Schrade collection had remained in tact this time line and variations were shown in the displays. I keep this display since it represents a fragment of history other wise lost. Here are some pictures. LT

I'm hostile because he abused his power in the most heinous of ways and then bragged about it.

He's someone who took pay and pleasure to torture people he was supposed to protect while taking illegal non-prescribed drugs while working as a LEO, according to him anyway. It doesn't impress me and didn't makes me laugh.

I saw that knife that Dale made and thought it was a brilliant idea. I wanted to copy it but it took a long time to work up the courage to take a file to one of my knives. Now I can't wait to find more knives with the right shape to carve into a Washington bolster. Here's a Schrade, a Kent and a Kingston.
