Case XX 6235: legit handles and shield or not
I'm not a case expert but the handles and shield inlay look a little unusual. Maybe its the rogers bone.
The jigging looks a little different too. But rogers bone sometimes has nuances. see the pics of scout knives i posted.

I think you might have meant pattern 6235. I think the mark side looks a bit odd too, particularly the jigging and color changes in a few spots. Perhaps some repair work? But, I defer to the experts.

Looks like a patch job to me too, Herb.

Both handles appear to be replacements.

I agree with Steve, but the seller is "one of the most experienced long time Veteran Case Dealer/Collector/Authenticator.Case Historian left alive, over 48 years full time CASE Dealer." Asking crazy money for a messed with knife!!

That seems awfully high for that particular pattern. Covers definitely look like they've been worked on.

Pfeif,
For my own education, what details about the pile side handle make you suspect it’s a replacement too? The more pronounced vertical jigging pattern?
Gene,
The item description alone should trigger a caveat emptor warning.

Re: Case XX 6236: legit handles and shield or not
This seller has had some sale descriptions that bordered on delusional in the past. I think this is another example. The handles certainly don’t look like any Rogers bone I’ve ever seen. The back handle looks funny for Case bone. The mark side handle looks plain weird. The shield looks off center which would suggest some after factory work. I would like to see it in hand and maybe I could tell what it actually is. Crazy price, wired handles and a description that doesn’t match what I see.
Here is another Counterfeit Watch post that featured one of this sellers knives.

The scales look hand jigged to me, and is that really bone? The dye doesn't look like the typical Case dye to me either. He should say, "WE SHIP FAST" to avoid buyer's remorse.
That knife Wayne linked
is plain garbage.

I agree Wayne, I’ve seen other “questionable at best” offerings from this seller in the past. This one is just not right. As you’ve described there is something off with the jigging and color of the bone on both sides. The shield placement appears to have been done by someone about as skilled as me!btrwtr wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:58 am This seller has had some sale descriptions that bordered on delusional in the past. Although shield alignment might indicate some tampering,it is no an exact science with Case products.
