Press button knife
Press button knife
I bought this press button knife at a local auction about 6 weeks ago. I know the condition isnt great, but couldn't believe I got it for such a low price. I've sent it out to get the blade and spring repaired. I'll post more pictures once it's back in my possession
Re: Press button knife
I had one like the bottom knife I bought at K Mart over 50 years ago.
Re: Press button knife
The bottom knife is a Sharp 300

Re: Press button knife
I like the Press Button. Neat knife. I had one a few years back. Harold
Re: Press button knife
I got the knife back from the person who fixed it. The blade repair looked great, but unfortunately the knife still didn't work. He has agreed to take it back to check it out again. So it's back in the mail. Hoping everything is good when I get it back this time

I'll be interested to see how he "fixes" the blade.

Re: Press button knife
It was tig welded and then a regrind. I was happy with how it looked. The blade repairs were hard to notice unless you were looking for them.
Re: Press button knife
A quick update if anyone was following this. The guy said the spring was broken, so waiting for a replacement now

Re: Press button knife
I'm following P80, please post pictures when you get the operational knife back!
Re: Press button knife
I will. I can't wait to get it back and hopefully its functioning this time. This experience is ruining my desire to seek out more antique autos

Re: Press button knife
I hear ya! But be warned, there are some unbelievably beautiful antique automatics in circulation, and once you get one and see and feel just how nice they are it's very easy to become hopelessly addicted to them. This frustrating experience you're going through is an exception and not usually the rule. You'll see, as soon as you fire your repaired knife and hear and feel that ever satisfying "crack" you'll forget all about the trouble, trust me! LOL!
Re: Press button knife
Thanks for the encouragement. Hopefully I'll be able to post pictures of it soon.
Re: Press button knife
Finally got this thing back. It works like it's supposed to now. I'm happy with how it turned out and am looking forward to using it

Re: Press button knife
Very nice! If it operates as well as it looks P80 I'd say you've found a good candidate for your EDC rotation! Looks great, congrats!

Good things come to those who wait. What a beauty, so glad you have it back at home and working like it should. What a score. Congrats and enjoy.
