Is this auction usually an expensive proposition? Seems so.

I have participated in two 'live' auctions, which are not run like Ebay, of course. I shan't do it again. Without going into the whole talk about shill bidding, buyers', sellers', and auction house premiums, and outrageous shipping and uh..."handling" charges, my advice is Caveat Emptor, but your mileage may vary. Although we love to hate Ebay and Paypal, compared to alternative "auctions," they are a bargain. I personally like to buy and sell in the Exchange sections of AAPK and another forum.

I can relate, tongue. I have had issues with his grading of knives in the past. A cracked scale is an issue that should be mentioned, for example. A knife cannot be "Near Mint" with a crack, just not a possible grading in my book.

So can anyone tell me more about one of the knives I saw? I'm just curious.

What's the deal on the bail?

Appreciate your input!

I’m not sure it was from the Voyle’s auction or another, but some time back someone on here said a knife was described as being buffed back to NM condition.1967redrider wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 5:30 pm I can relate, tongue. I do believe that the long bail was made to be slipped under and over onto a belt to hold the knife in place when extended, or folded under when not in use

That could have been me. Another example of his interesting grading system.

I bought this one from knifeaholic (Steve). Just a way to keep a knife handy for use.

Re: Voyles Online Auction
You sure have to be careful dealing with Bruce!! The auction doesn't mention snap or other important conditions. I saw a bunch of knives in person he was auctioning off some years back and many were re-handled or had obvious signs of cobbling yet he made no mention of this. On the other hand, some friends have gotten some really nice knives from him after they did not make reserve in his auction and he came down to reasonable offers after the auction. In this auction many of his estimates are low, but it is buyer beware dealing with his auctions.

Kind of a cross between bail and clip. A "Bail-Clip" or a "Clip-Bail" if you will.

Thanks guys!

cuz I like mine as simple and uncluttered as possible,
but dog gone it,
I like the concept of that bale!
If I ever got a knife with such a bale I would probably leave it on, and that's a first for me!

I found it strange looking at first. Untill they explained the concept of it to me. Now I find it pretty darn cool!

I can see it to be a better system, then most. It allows the knife to give, when you sit down, yet it doesn't flop around like classic danglers. You don't have to lug a sheath around; it keeps your pockets empty for other stuff.
And when you don't need it, it folds over to be in-line with the knife, so you can pocket 'er almost as easily as before.
I personally don't like the Swedish dangler sheaths. It makes me nervous having a large, razor-sharp object, flopping around next to my leg.
Even thou it's traditional, I buck tradition in this case.
So, taking all that into consideration: I need to get all my traditionals converted over now.

Auction ends tonight. Does this look wonky to you?
https://knifeauctions.auction.net/lot-d ... 3Fpage%3D3
Looks like it's patched and not a good patch/jigging matchup at that. Currently, it can be yours for $225!

Just for the heck of it I scrolled thru the offerings. Saw one knife that would have interested me except I already have one and I paid way less for.
Is Colonel Coon going to be the next GEC? Saw early bidding on a number of them.
