Schrade 707UH with staglon handles. I would have gone $50 (ok, I'm a cheapskate) but this blew me away. Is this a realistic price, or did the bidding get a little heated?

There are collectors today who are attempting to obtain examples of all the patterns and styles which Schrade made in both the Old timer and Uncle Henry lines. There are several reasons for this the obvious being that they are no longer made in the USA however what makes them appealing is that for the most part they are relatively still inexpensive and fairly plentiful. This is not always the case since some models are rarer than others ( do to length of production and amounts produced. ) In the UH line there were several which fell in this catagory. I am including a picture of the big three. ( complete with cat hair. it is impossible to keep up with dusting all this SH-- I mean all these valuable artifacts ) . ( Besides my cats can do whatever they damn well please they have shown themselves more faithful than my wife or kids and like a good knife never let me down ). That being said Under the UH line there were a couple of others that are close to these in rarity the LB-2 124UH and LB-9 come to mind. Actually while I have most of this stuff I am more into the older Schrade cuts 03 - 46 approx and Schrade Waldens 46 -72 most newer collectors due to monetary restraints and rarity do not have the luxury of going for the older stuff. Fortunately or un fortunately ( depending on if you are a buyer or seller ) these factors force the collector who want an example of everything to pay whatever is needed for the rarer issues. Just like in those old Wheat penny collections the main coin in those sets was the 1909 VBD without it the set was worth 10 dollars for all of them with it a couple of hundred. The Same analogy holds true here. If any body would like to make some handles and substitute the staglon version for the wood handles on the 3 rd generation knives ( which when they started making them that way they stopped the UH production. ) as you can see I also have a set of the original dies the staglon handles were made with I also have several thousand of the original shields for these as well in case you wish to flood the market and bring down the price.
