Case Brothers Gowanda

Post by galvanic1882 »

Ok this one is not on ebay but maybe it was bought off ebay, I don't know for sure. It was posted on another site as legit. What are your thoughts, I think it's new blade in an old frame and not genuine.

That blade and the tang stamp in particular look WAY too new to be from 1896-97. I'm not sure from the picture if that tang stamp was cold stamped or not, but I'm sure that the real experts will chime in. ::hmm::

The blade to handle should not have that wonky angle?

Blade recently machined and tang polished for stamp. Long pull into the tang...opening stop not machined to meet the backspring correctly...handles too new for early knife...bolster ground to hide recent pin installment..poor job ::td:: ::sneaky::

It is a legitimate fake. New with fake stamp.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Wow that's awful, I'd like to see how the spring matches up to the tang when open. ::td::
