Marbles Jet Pilot Knife

Post by Arisaka99 »

Hi folks! Long time member, first post. I obtained this knife a few years back from a Craigslist ad in southern Maryland. It came from the family of a Vietnam navy corpsman who was issued the knife on a hospital ship. Although it is unmarked, it was made by Marbles, using a variation of their “ideal” hunting knife blade in 6” as a submission to the military under contract specs mil-k-8662a, and became known as the Jet Pilots Survival Knife. The Navy, liking the design, shared it with Camillus who was ultimately awarded the contract, making these Marbles production samples rather rare. It is one of only a few known in the issue box. The blade of the JPSK was 6” from 1957, when this was made, through 1962 when the contract specification was shortened to the 5” length still used today.

Awesome knife! I have a reproduction from the early 2000's but wish it was older like yours. 😎👍👍

Awesome first post too. ::nod::👍
