Seeking info on Schrade Walden knife

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Seeking info on Schrade Walden knife

Post by Ziradog »

In cleaning out my parents home I came across several "vintage" pocket knives that I would like information on. One is this three blade Schrade stockman (I think) pattern in pretty nice shape. I suspect 1960's or 70's vintage maybe based on what was with it. Mainly just curious about the age and history of it. I will attempt to attach pictures. Is this the correct forum or should I use one of the others? Thanks.

Your nice knife, the "Westerner," was made 1961 or 1962 through sometime in 1970. It is a slender 'stockman,' and has DuPont molded plastic handles or covers.

That is a nice knife.
And, yes, this is the right post in the right place!
I love Schrade Walden knives, and that one is in good used condition.

Here is a 834 Schrade Walden with JACK KNIFE BEN ink etched on the clip master blade. I thought Ben,s boys took the business over in the 30’s and went to Jack Knife Shop.
