A.G.A Campolin 13'' / 33cm picklock

Post by Clack »

Hi all,

Recently i purshased a A.G.A Campolin 13'' / 33m piclock that should be one of the 290 that where produced back in 2003.

According to the information I gathered from the internet, this should be a fairly rare knife, but I don't know exactly why that should be. I also cannot say with certainty whether this knife is from 2003. I do not have a COA.

Many of these picklocks apparently had problems like a banana blade. Mine has that too, but I don't have much trouble with it because for me it's more about the authenticity of the knife.

Can anyone confirm whether this knife was actually produced in 2003 or not? And why this knife should be rare? It was a limited production but most knives of Campolin are also limited production.. Like Sicilian, Batswing, Franchese etc..

It appears to be what you suspect.
There were not a lot of them made. They were made by one of the old time greats-Angelo Campolin, Sr., with the same stamping dies and materials as his 1950s knives.
They are picklocks-made during a time that very few picklocks were made.
Mr. Campolin is no longer with us.

Thanks for the info Bill. What a great story behind it.. No wonder then that these knives have a special place. The very idea that the great master Angelo Campolin touched these knives, put them together.. Just beautiful.

I believe that there was also some images of A. Campolin Sr. working on these particulair picklocks. I will try to find them on the net and share it here.

Thanks man!

Its a very heavy solid blade picklock. Fires great.. The horn scales beautiful.. But the most beautiful thing is the story behind it =). Great piece of history that will stay in my collection probably for ever.

I believe these are the pictures of Angelo Campolin making the 2003 pick locks that Clack mentioned (I had them in my computer).

Yes, i found these too and the scale textures are looking the same as the one i have.

These where one of the last knives Angelo Sr. worked on.

I'd be interested in a light horn if one is still available. Please message me,
