Western fixed blade scrimshaw “Robert Mayokok “
These Alaska knifes can be seen on e-bay from time to time .99% of the time it is my belief that they are counterfeits. Most are a lot better forgeries than this one listed currently. The Alaska cruise ship souvenir knifes to the best of my knowledge should all have the tang stamp WESTCO CULTRY Co ./ Juneau Alaska /PATD MADE IN U.S.A. .

I think both are right knives. Mayokok scrimshawed many knife handles, all individually by hand so it is normal to see variances in the scrimshaw. These weren't just sold on cruise ships, they were sold in souvenir shops on land. Our resident Western expert zzzygoten will probably come around with a better explanation.

The O. P. knife could be 1950. 28 AP .It does look like the 28AP did have a lanyard hole in the pommel that was puzzling to me me at first glance .Still yet the mark side tang looks odd to me with Made in U.S.A. Over patented ? And yes if zzzygoten sees this post I’m sure he can clarify that question for me .interesting thing I found out about Robert Mayokok .In 1970 after he was saved and became a Christian he add 3 small birds to all his art work to represent the Father Son and Holy Ghost.Gunsil wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 6:12 pm I think both are right knives.
