Kershaw 2005 money clip knife embellishment

Kershaw began its foray into the knife business sometime during 1974. The company was originally based in Portland Oregon, but most early knives were manufactured in Japan. The first US manufacturing plant was opened in 1997 & the company currently offers knives made in the U.S., Japan, & China. Pete Kershaw (an ex Gerber salesman) started the business.

Kershaw 2005 money clip knife embellishment

Post by ThatWeirdKnifeGuy »

When I bought this the only picture available was from far away, I thought this thing was just a sales tag. When it arrived I was surprised to find that it's....not a tag.

Im not certain what the metal is. I've sent pictures to a jeweler and they've said initially the stone looks real, but of unknown quality. They'd have to see in person to verify.

Does anyone know about these? I've looked around and seen a few other examples with various badges attached, and a few with nothing but the rosewood inlay. One of the badges on another example appeared to be brass and saphires.

Were these embellishments after market done by a jeweler or cutler? Or done in house? It seems well done.

I know that a company called O. C. Tanner worked with
Gerber for the award pocket knives with the emblems and gems.
Maybe O. C. Tanner worked with Kershaw as well. ::shrug::

A quick search and i came across this old ebay listing.

 holy s*%+ Skip, not only are you spot on, but it looks like my little clip knife is literally quite the gem. Mine is different but on par. Thank you, once again, friend.

This is a screen shot of the listing instead of a link for future reference's sake.

I know that this is the Kershaw Knife Forum.
Besides O.C. TANNER, there was or is another award company that worked with GERBER.
That award company was or is called JOSTENS. Maybe JOSTENS worked with Kershaw also. ::shrug::
I posted a picture of each, below.
