Saving ebay pics
I can no longer save a pic from ebay to my desktop. I used to right click on an image and get an option to save it to my desktop as a jpeg. Now when I right click an ebay image, the only option I get to save it to my desktop is as a WebP Image? I am using an iMac with Firefox as a browser. I have also tried on my Windows 10 machine with both Firefox and Microsoft Edge. It is driving me nuts.
I see that some of you are still managing to save ebay pics and post them on here. Could you please explain by what method you are doing this?
Thanks

Re: Saving ebay pics
After noticing the problem I posted my work-around a while back, but I can’t find the post. Apparently the AAPK search algorithm finds “eBay” to be “too common” for it to find posts containing it. I’ll keep looking for it, but it’s not easy to explain. IIMHO the software wizards at eBay have done it on purpose to prevent discussion of listings.

You can use the Windows Snipping Tool
Select the Start button, enter snipping tool, then select Snipping Tool from the results.
In Snipping Tool, select Mode. In earlier versions of Windows, select the arrow next to the New button. Next, when you choose the kind of snip you want, you’ll see the whole screen change slightly to gray. Then, choosing from anything currently displayed on the screen, select the area of your screen that you want to capture.

Re: Saving ebay pics
Are you talking about saving any "random" image from eBay to your desktop?

Thanks for looking, Ken. I am finding it very frustrating. I will also try searching for your post.
Thanks for that info, Tom, I will give that a try.
Mike, no, not any random image, I can still save images from other sites to my desktop. It is just images from ebay. As Ken said, above, ebay has done this deliberately.

Tom beat me to the keyboard. Yes; the snipping tool. It is harder and harder to grab .jpgs off the internet, but the snipping tool does a nice job, and you can crop it while you do it.

I am talking about the pictures posted by the sellers in the auction listing. I saw you had another post, but when I tried to quote it and reply, the post had vanished?XX Case XX wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 2:15 pmAre you talking about saving any "random" image from eBay to your desktop?

Re: Saving ebay pics
I just tried it out on four separate listings and had no problem. Right clicked on the image and then got the option to save it to my computer as a jpeg image. I'm running two computers one with Windows 11 and one with 10, worked on both. I'm wondering if maybe you tried to save an image that was hosted by an auction hosting site and they don't allow it?

Yes, I deleted it because I sometimes don't fully understand what someone is saying and I end up looking like an idiot in the end, however, if you're talking about pictures posted by a seller on eBay, then I believe you have some type of equipment issue.
I use the same equipment that you do and I had no problem saving photos posted by sellers on eBay.

Thanks for finding that thread, Bob.
I found a snipping/screenshot tool on the Mac OS. It works very well and I am now happy again.

Could be the browser?
I find some things work better in Chrome, while others work better in Edge. I use both on my Android cellphone.

Here’s a link to the post documenting my work around. viewtopic.php?p=1121340#p1121340. This works on an iPad or phone, or a PC having touchscreen capability. Have not tried it on a conventional PC, but right click and drag might work the same as touch-and-drag.

Thanks for posting your method, Ken. Tried it on my mac, doesn't work.
Anyway, I did find a way that works well and will stick with it until it quits working.
Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone.

Re: Saving ebay pics
Another option using a PC:
Hold down (CNTRL) and hit (Print Screen).
Then open Paint program, and Paste it. This will copy a screenshot of your entire computer screen to the Paint program.
Then crop away everything you don't need.

Re: Saving ebay pics
That’s what I do most of the time on my Mac - and even on my iPad. Just take a screenshot, then crop all the extraneous stuff away. Ain’t nothing copy protected from a screenshot!
