NEW KNIFE DAY !

Post by Good Old Luke »

::groove::
Just took it out of the box. AGA Campolin, 6”er. New.
Look at that sweet horn.
Needed something handy and discreet and am very pleased.
Going in pocket right away! BTW, this little thing fires off real strong, and came nice and sharp too.
Wish I could have found one with stag scales, but those models are long gone.
I’ll let you all know how it holds up over time.

VERY nice, Luke, and in my favorite color too! I have no experience with these smaller models, although, every thing I've read about them claims they're great little knives! I've had this 9" "Dominus" big brother model for awhile, and I love it! IMO, I'd say yours would make a better EDC than mine since it's likely easier to manipulate when needed. Now, all you need is an AGA Campolin 8" "Zero" or 10" "Zero+", and you'll be all set. If you like your little knife, you'll love a "Zero", I guarantee it! Both use dual leaf-springs that are easily replaced, but unless you go crazy with "click-therapy" you won't need to worry about that! 8)

My 9" "Dominus" leverlock with ebony covers!

The "Dominus" with a cloned version of the OP knife! Not a bad little knife, but not an AGA C. either!

A shot of the "Zero's" I described! I can't say enough about these "Zero's", but the best thing I can say is they are impressive knives all round!

That sure is a beauty Luke! Campolin knives sure are nice ones. That excitement that comes with receiving a package and cracking it open becomes addicting :-)

Got a hankering for an 8” ZERO. Got a look at one with a Bayo blade at a recent gun show, and they are top of the line. The one I saw was wonderfully made. How are yours holding up under use?
And man, do I like that 9” Dominus! Love the lines, but 9” is a bit big for my pockets. They make a mini, 6”, that I was looking at but it was $50 more moola. I went for the classic instead.
Tell me about that Chitalian, AKC clone? Seen them offered on a coupla different sites, but wondered about the overall quality. What are they like?

I researched my Zero's a lot before I bought, and the model that stood out for me was the satin polished dagger blade, but at the time only the 8" all black dagger model was available so I scooped it up. It wasn't until 3 yrs. later that the model I'd wanted became available again, and it was the brand new 10"er, and since my sweet-spot in-hand is 10"- 11" I couldn't wait to pick it up too, especially since I already knew from 3 yrs. experience with my 8"er what great autos they are. My choices for knives are dictated by my circumstances, and since I no longer venture outside much anymore due to my faltering health my knives are never used, just loved. Due to these things, I don't worry about how well they hold up and/or perform, only how long before the spring breaks is my concern! lol! Pretty shallow, I know, but I work on gaining knowledge here every day.
Regarding the 9" "Dominus", it is 9" extended but much shorter and pocket friendly when closed, so you might not find it as obtrusive as you're thinking, but you know what's best for you. And unless I'm mistaken, your new knife IS the shorter 6" "Icepick" version of the "Dominus" only minus the bolster "ears" /guards.
The small AGA clone was acquired from Etsy.com where I was able to secure half a dozen cheapo autos from overseas before Customs got wise and started checking their packages along with all the others. It cost US $25. + $15. shipping, and for that price worth every dime. It fires fast and firm, and locks-up tight every time. Now that I have a secure shipping connection I might eventually get myself one like yours, just because...
I've been trying to post more pictures of the clone, but my laptop is causing me all kinds of grief and they're coming out blurry, so no additional pics just now, sorry!
I hope this answers some of your questions, buddy! ::handshake::
