Spyderco metal handle

Post by Rockingkj »

This used Spyderco came today. A used knife so handle was a bit rough. Added some engraving to give it a bit of a face lift.

You are a true craftsman, great engraving. How do the 110’s brass compare to this in difficulty?

The brass on a 110 is quite soft compared to the Spyderco’s handle. In some ways the harder material engraved easier. Seems counter to what a person would expect. Quite some time ago I had shown one of the my engraved brass capper’s (for muzzle loader percussion caps) to another engraver. He commented that I would find gun steel easier to engrave than brass. He was right. Practiced on several junk receivers before I finally tackled a good gun. Every piece is a learning experience and hopefully the end results continue to improve.

One of the nicest Spydercos I've ever seen - your talent easily surpasses the worth of that knife. It's almost beneath you, but i'm glad you done it!

Thanks that’s really high praise. I like Spyderco for carry knives.
