KA-BAR R-72

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

The 72 model series was one of the most produced hunting knives they made. Yours was likely made between about 1930 and 1942. Yours has a KA-BAR patented handle which is wood with a thin celluloid cover. 72s came with 4&1/2" blades (most of them) and 5&1/2" blades (scarcer), and some had stainless blades, also scarce. They were also available with wood, leather, fiber ring, natural smooth bone, and stag handles. Yours appears to be in very nice condition!!

I got it with some gun stuff I bought and I don’t wanna start collecting knives. Is this a knife that is desirable to collectors and if I was to sell it on the site what wouldn’t my asking price be? That would be fair to me and to the seller
