Hemming Cutlery knife info

Post by Yorkazuna1 »

Hello all,
I purchased a Hemming Brothers knife that was in a lot of 40 knifes. It's a Hemming but I'm have a tough time finding much information about the company, it's patterns or values. Can anyone help?

Goins Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings lists Hemming Bros. c 1923-1924. Located at 205 River Street, New Haven, CT. Says “in addition to making pocket knives, the Hemmings invented and manufactured the machinery for the automatic grinding and polishing of knife blades.”

There are 40 posts here on AAPK referencing Hemming https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... mit=Search
Possibly more info about the company and other knives there. The knife you have shown (a beauty) is called a “tuxedo” pattern. I have no idea of value except that value is a function of supply and demand. I’d guess Hemming Bros. knives to be fairly rare if they were only made for two years. However, rare does not usually equal valuable.

Thank you for the reply. I did search the AAPK website and saw the posts about the butterfly knives.

I've only seen one other Hemming Bros. knife and it too was a tuxedo. Nice find!

Winchester bought them out to get their grinding process when Winchester started making knives after the war.____Dave
