I just got a new to me western pre-1977 445 pocket knife. It was in great condition had never been sharpened and the main blade along with the sheep foot have great snap and no wobble at all. The pen blade though had absolutely horrendous wobble! You could grab a hold of the end the blade and shake it up and down like I’ve heard Case uses as an inspection method, and the wobble was quite extreme. So with the knife open, rested it atop of my anvil and tapped what I thought was gently the pin to remove the wobble. I would check the wobble and snap every few taps. Well, you know how this story goes. I most all of the wobble out there is just a slight wiggle back-and-forth but now the blade will not snap closed. You can see where it hangs up in the last picture. From there, you have to help it closed, maybe a tiny bit of snap at the very end. It’s not the end of the world to me as it’s going to be a user but I thought I’d ask here what my options are for fixing the snap.
I have done this before on some other knives with some success, it always seems like it’s a trade-off between snap and wobble.
Removed most of wobble but now snap close bad

Thank you! That’s exactly the information I was looking for

You tapped it too much you need a feeler gauge between the liner and blade the. You can smack it without making it too tight. On a medium to large I use a .008 and usually works out great.
