Case knife mystery

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Case knife mystery

Post by Firechief501 »

Hoping someone can assist with some history about this set . I’m assuming they were some kind of SFO but not sure from where . I cannot seem to find any info on them online anywhere . They are all marked 02 of 100 , only one of them has a sheild stamped Case MM, the other 3 are stamped case xx . Rainbow copperlocks is etched on all 4 . I bought a collection from a gentleman who says he obtained this set in a pawn shop in Montana … that’s about all I know . Interesting set to say the least . Thanks in advance for any help .

The CASE-MM shield was used in 2000, stands for “millennium”. Commonly called the “Millennium Shield”.

A search on knifedb.com found several copperlocks made in 1998 having the same blade embellishment as yours - four color rainbow and the words Rainbow Copperlocks. Some have no serialization engraved on the bolsters. Others have “x of xxx” engraved on the right front bolster. There were apparently made in several different handle covers and were made both ways - as a standard offering and an exclusive serialized run. Doesn’t say whether they came from the factory like that, were SFO, or were done aftermarket. Another Case “made to be collectable”.

Could possibly be Shepherd Hills SFOs. 😉
