Model 1179 aka "sodbuster". The label says 1968, which would be appropriate - Cole National started putting model numbers on their knives in 1969.

Produced from 1967 or 1968 until 1980. According to "historical" Kabar data, the 1179 was introduced in "the mid-1960s". Since C-N bought KABAR in 1966 and probably took a year or so to introduce new models, I have always assumed 1967 or 1968 for no model number C-N products.

The model number should be on the box label on the end.

The handle material is supposed to be walnut, but who knows what wood was really used.
