Hi Scott,

The notice your customers are seeing is simply asking them to sign in or register to complete their purchase. We're definitely not intending to make it look like we require "a ‘one-on-one peer review" or anything of that nature.

For money order and peer-to-peer purchases, we require buyers to log in before proceeding. This helps protect you (and other sellers) from scams and non-serious orders. Without this step, there’s no reliable way to prevent bad actors from persistently placing fake orders.

When users are signed in, we can monitor behavior, identify suspicious patterns, and block repeat offenders when necessary.

We’re definitely not trying to make things harder for honest buyers.

You can see the message for yourself by logging out, adding one of your items to your cart, and clicking “checkout.”

I'm always open to ideas on how we can improve the notification or even revisit whether this kind of mechanism is the best approach.

Let me know if you have any thoughts or questions.

Best,
Bryan

Hi Scott,

It is. With recent PayPal developments, more members are using money order payments and we are trying to get ahead of some likely problem areas before they develop into larger scale issues.
