Treasure hunt wonder

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Welcome here, Berta.

I don't know anything about the knife except it was made by good ol' Camillus.

Looks hardly used and stored on the top shelf of a garage for 25 1/2 years.
It's a beauty. How long is it?

I don’t know if this helps or not, but appears to be a Camillus WW2 pilot’s knife. And, a great example of one. I been after one for a while now, not easy or cheap to come by. This is a page from the picture pictured.

I think Bob and CarMan are right and I agree it is an excellent example.
Off the top of my head, I think that tang stamp was only used on fixed blade knives.
I think it is definitely World War II era or slightly before.
