Stilleto pocketknife

Post by Jhannah »

I am having trouble getting my Stilleto switchblade pocketknife closed. I believe the problem lies with the sex pin at the top of the handle right below the blade, but am not entirely sure. That's what I was told. In the first pic, that's as closed as it goes before encountering resistance that stops the process. It won't close any further. I also noticed upon opening it completely that the blade is not straight, there's too much play and it doesn't feel stable, feels loose. Could it be the wrong size screw? I did get it closed once but upon reopening it wouldn't close back. Please help, and if it is that screw could anyone tell me what size it is so I can order one for replacement? I live in a small town in Tennessee and we have nobody who works on knives here. Thank you so much!

Try posting your question in the Switchblade forum viewforum.php?f=86 or here in the Knife Repair forum viewforum.php?f=37 Or

Also you could send a PM or email request to Bill DeShivs. He repairs switchblades and may be able to answer your questions. memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=15108

It's not a switchblade. It's assisted-opening.

You can get a brand-new one from Ebay for $15.00 (pic below taken from Ebay).

I'll go out on a limb and predict that Mr. DeShivs won't fix it.

Yes, at the price mentioned they are probably considered disposable.

So this company is not only guilty of peddling junk, they’re using deceptive marketing. I clearly see “USA” marked on the knife and the box. “Tiger - USA”, I suppose is technically the name of the “company”, obviously chosen to make the unwary think it’s a U.S.- made product. ::sneaky::

I too doubt Bill DeShivs would bother to work on it. Although his advice given here is free, he charges more to do repairs than the OP knife is worth. In both cases, you get what you pay for!

I concur with the above opinions.
Order a new knife. At $15 it's like a sore penis- you can't beat it. I charge $14 postage, and $100 hour for repairs.
