Lets see those beautiful Doctors Knife

Post by rea1eye »

Just picked up this Queen Doctors Knife from eBay. This makes 3 Doctors knives now
from 2 manufacturers in my collection. The fit and finish is superb. This is my first
Queen. I am sad to see they are no longer in business! They can sure make great knives.

I think this is a cocobolo wood knife made around 2002. It feels like it
has half stops too, but the movement to half stop is soft.
Correct me if any of this is bad info.

Scored this Wendell Carson from SSK about a year ago. Camel bone handles. Gifted it to my son, a physician.

The Doctor knife was the very first pattern I collected as a collecting focus (as opposed to random knife accumulation). Don't collect them any more but this 1996 Case Classic with Waterfall Celluloid scales was one that I got on eBay about 14 years ago from a very nice fellow who told me about a great knife forum that I really ought to check out called "All About Pocket Knives". I took his advice and lurked around on the site for a few years before finally becoming a member myself in 2014. A few months after joining, I posted a photo of this Dr knife in one of the threads where it was recognized (serial #13 on the bolster) by the nice fellow who had sold it to me on eBay three years earlier. Jerryd6818 and I became fast friends who went on to have some fantastic adventures together in the land of Mini Trappers, and the rest is history. I guess you could say this knife was just what the Doctor ordered!

I just picked this one up last week. Dr knives are not a focus of my collecting but this one was too beautiful to pass up. Case has always had the best looking bone handles used today. Red diamond back rattlesnake jigged bone.

Great Thread, Bob! You guys are posting some Beautiful Docs ::tu:: and I agree that Queen made some great knives back in their heyday.
Every one of these pearls are very fiery with great color, but unfortunately my camera doesn't pick it up too well. Never considered myself a collector of this pattern but I have picked up several over the years when I found the right deals. Also have a few Case models, but I'm too lazy to dig them out of the back of the safe.

Very nice group of knives Kevin. And to all the others who posted. The doctors knife may not be the
most useful when you need a sharp pocket knife to cut things but they sure are purdy.
