R.I.P. Brian Wilson

Post by PringleTree »

Brian Wilson, the musical mastermind of The Beach Boys, has died at age 82. As much as I like Good Vibrations, California Girls, Little Deuce Coupe and many others, my BB favorites will always be God Only Knows, Don't Worry Baby, and In My Room.

He was the last surviving Wilson brother, having been predeceased by brothers Dennis and Carl.

Brian Wilson was a musical genius, a prodigy. He wrote some great songs but IMHO his true genius was in orchestrating the arrangements and harmonies of The Beach Boys. He was an interesting dude, battled depression throughout much of his life. His composition In My Room is said to be autobiographical and makes a lot of sense when you understand his depression and that he spent extended periods of time in his bedroom, in bed.

Sad to hear of Brian's passing.
Being in high school in the mid 60's The Beach Boys were "The Group". Shut down, 409, and Be True to your School were my favs.
Rest in peace, Brian.

I did some Beach Boys tunes with my model train Shorts on YouTube today, a little tribute to the Boys of Summer.
