Currier & Ives "The Flying Cloud" & Statue of Liberty

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Greta finds MLB! I really like the Currier and Ives knives, kind of remind me of the Wharncliff Whittlers ::tu:: Now you need to find the Lightning Express to round out the collection :D

MLB, the Lightning Express was a companion knife to your Flying Cloud. I don't have one myself but I believe it came in the identical frame and background as the FC, with the knife being the same model as your Statue of Liberty, only with wood handles (Like the FC), and an etch of a locomotive. I hope that makes sense ::undecided::

Eric - makes good sense to me, sounds like a nice knife. Now I have another one to search for. The lightning express is one knife my wife want give me a hard time about purchasing, I've worked for the railroad over 20 years and she's a railroad buff. She collects any and all railroad Memorabilia she can find and afford, so if it has a locomotive on it, then it's a shoe in, if I can find one. Thanks for the info.
