Boys Knife with black/blue carbon fiber scales

Post by ashwinearl »

Another one of my boys knife pattern. This time I'm liking the contrast between a vintage classic pattern and high-tech carbon fiber. I got this in a grab box from a supplier and the black specs just glitter and the blue is so interesting.

Specs: 3.5" closed, 14C28N stainless steel, carbon fiber scales, mill relieved liners, pinned shield. Liners 410, shield 416, bolsters 416. pretty snappy walk and talk 5-6ish pull. Laser cut nail nick. A little high at closed, flush at half, centered blade, tight spine.

#46.

That is beautiful Sir. How is that Carbon Fiber to work with?

Really not bad in terms of dust. I wear a mask and have a dust collector hose near by. It seems more chalky than 'fiberish' like typical carbon fiber. This does seem to have some small voids, as you can see in the picture. It might be a hair chippy given some gap around the shield. But that parser plate seems worn so could be that vs the material.

The black carbon fiber glitters in the light as your slightly rotate it.

It seems tough enough to withstanding the expansion of the pins during peening.

If you want some to make a knife with, let me know I can send some.

Interesting. Ive never worked with it. Ive seen some nice things done with it but haven't tried it yet.

I appreciate the offer. I might pick your brain if I decide to use some. Seems like it finishes a little different thank g10 or micarta.
