None, I think that is cut and dried already. They want my email address to send the digital copy to. They ain't going to get it.

The cost of paper, ink, labor and mailing has rendered print magazines a thing of the past. Plus today’s Gen X, Y, Z or whatever, don’t want magazines, books, or anything that’s not online. One by one all the magazines I used to get have gone the way of the dodo bird. Some send you a communication offering a choice of an on-line or print version, which is the death knell - only a matter of time until it is available digitally only. Sign of the times.

The NRA communication I received said they’re publishing the monthly edition on-line only, but will continue to publish and mail the print magazine quarterly, only for those who tell them they want it. I sent them my email address and signed up to get the quarterly print magazine. I have already received the first two monthly digital issues. It’s my understanding that if you go to www.nra.org/change and provide your email address you can choose to receive a monthly digital edition, with the option to also receive a quarterly print edition via mail. If you don’t select anything, you won’t get anything - without your email they can’t send you the link to the digital version because they will not know where to send it. And the default is the digital version only, so unless you log in and select that you want the monthly digital version and the quarterly print version!

Read your notification again - I’m a life member - if your membership is different your offer may (or may not) be different.

BTW I agree with the others. Like it or not It’s a done deal regardless who we vote for.

I'm glad I saw this thread because I missed the email regarding the magazine.
I went back and found it. Now signed up for print and digital.

The NRA Board members are mainly there for show and ego, IMHO, and are not willing to do their jobs and watch out for the organization. That is why Wayne was able to grift for so long at the expense of the organization and its members.

NRA President Bill Bachenberg and Executive Vice President & CEO Doug Hamlin were both there when Wayne ruled. During Doug's ~11 year overlap on Wayne's staff and Bill's 4 year stint on the Board during Wayne's final fall, neither either saw anything (hard to believe) or appeared to speak out. I could possibly see why Doug as staff was silent or at least quiet, but Bill was on the Board and should have led the charge to oust Wayne and the other grifters like tge secretary.

IMHO, Bill and Doug have made the publication decision already, and the current Board members don't have the will power to speak out.

I suspect the publication decision was part of the deal for Doug since he led the publications group, and making him CEO was in lieu of letting him go.

IMHO, the only way to keep the magazines monthly would have been to raise dues, and I suspect such a proposal would have bristled members too.

IMHO, modernizing an organization is a good thing, but this step to cut the magazines way back was contrary to the "wants" of too many members (I'd love to see the NRA membership percentages by age). Personally, I'm ok with monthly digital publications and quarterly printed magazines.

The good news is the NRA advertising mailers and emails will continue to keep our street boxes and inboxes filled!!!

There is NO way they are getting my email address. So I am waiving the getting of the magazine. Most of it is garbage anyway like all the other gun magazines. The writers request a gun to test and the manufacturers send them a specially prepared gun that works perfectly and shoots one hole groups. Far different from the gun you or I actually buy. And the writers will say nothing bad about the guns because those same manufacturers are buying advertising in the magazine.

I have been a life member since the late 1970s. Like every e-mail I've had the host deleted the last one from their system after I did not use it for too long. I have no e-mail and do not want one. Requiring an e-mail before any correspondence effectively terminates my life membership. I do not see that as a smart business decision for the NRA to make.

The decline in The American Rifleman's value as a consumer reports for gun buyers is a completely different topic. Through the 1980s many gun buyers would not choose a make or model without first reading The American Rifleman's evaluation of the model. Over time their reviews turned into sales pitches. However, more recently I flip first to the ILA Report followed by the Political Report both of which tend to be more factually correct than most of the media. I will miss that. Oh well. I expect it is only a matter of time before the NRA also demands access to members' cell phones and I will never have one of those.
