510 & 513 classic question
I found a couple old bucks. The 513 was still in its original clamshell jewelry box. It doesn’t have a single scratch. The 510 handles look like it was tumbled in some steel media or something. Blade and pins look new. Was this “pre-aging” the knife something Buck did back in the day?

Aluminum handles carried in your pocket with your keys and pocket change will look like that after a while. Don't ask me how I know.

Agree. It’s nothing related to “pre-aging”. Pocket carry, in a pocket with keys, coins, etc will do that to any knife, and quicker with softer metal like aluminum.

I suppose it could have been carried outside the brand new never carried sheath it was sold with, but I am not convinced. There is no marks on any parts except the aluminum.

You could try asking Buck. They’re still in business and I’ve heard they have very responsive customer service. If you do, please come back and tell us what they say, so we can all learn.
