Memorializing AAPK Members Gone Too Soon

Post by bestgear »

Around the middle of June 2026, a change was made regarding memorializing AAPK members that were taken from us too soon. For the longest time, our logo in the upper left corner of the desktop version home page looked like this:

The last addition was made in 2018 when Tom Murphy was called home for a total of 7 memorials in the form of clouds with their initials. New clouds around our logo were placed on-hold because the space needed wasn't available to properly memorialize the 14 members that were recommended to be added. The current logo has been updated to remove the clouds.

Your AAPK Administrative team decided to create a specialty forum called AAPK Members Gone Too Soon https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... .php?f=133 where only Administrators can add a new topic to this forum. I encourage you to take your time and browse the new memorials and pay special attention to the community contributions that were made by these members which is what led to their recommendation for recognition and not their AAPK longevity, number and regularity of forum posts or friendliness but simply their community contributions.

If you would like to request a member remembrance, please contact an AAPK Administrator (Bryan, Miller Bro's, Philco, Orvet, bestgear) and provide them with the following for the member:
1. First and last name
2. AAPK name
3. AAPK forum posts and other website link to be shared
4. An obituary website link or shareable family communication confirming their passing

This will aide the Administrators greatly in both approving the request and keeping consistency and uniformity with the remembrances. Hopefully this guidance will help you when requesting a member remembrance. If you have any questions, please ask them in this forum topic so that others may read the Administrators responses and everyone can learn. ::handshake:: Peace
Tom
