Lock and leave it

I've never been a fan of switching the clocks back and forth twice a year.
I don't care which they choose, DST or Standard time, just lock and leave it.

For years every time it came around to switching the clocks and hour, headlines would scream about how ridiculous and unnecessary switching twice a year is.
Now that it may become a reality, there's a plethora of screams about how harmful and unnecessary leaving the clocks alone would be.

Come on, folks. Let's lock it and leave it!

Agreed that the time should remain the same year round. But putting children out in the dark to catch a school bus should be addressed, school hours should afford the safest time for the children.
If y'all remember Jerryd didn't change his clock when it came to DST.

I have never liked changing the clock. But my objection is mainly philosophical. The whole basis of our daily time is that noon is when the sun is at it's highest point. In the 1880s the USA created the four time zones, so for most folks 12:00 noon is not exactly noon by the sun. But it is pretty close.

When we switch to Daylight Savings Time we are in a sense abandoning all of the history of time keeping. Long before clocks were invented, noon was when the sun was at it's zenith. When we abandon that we are abandoning yet another connection to the natural world. In this civilization that we live in, connections to nature are all too rare, and I hate to see another fall by the wayside. So I say: set the clocks to standard time and do not change.

GMT/ZULU would make it all so simple and better, but with today's politicians involved, I doubt they'll get it close to either simpler or better.

There is scientific evidence pointing to standard time being better for human circadian rhythm. As stated above, with our current politicians it is doubtful anything based on scientific evidence will be considered.

Sad that time is the only thing politicians can seem to find some common ground on. Wish they would spend their time seriously working on things of greater consequence instead of grandstanding to raise more money!

I like DST. I hate it getting dark at 4:30 in the winter.
