NCAA Madness

Post by smiling-knife »

I'm surprised that no one has brought up College basketball yet  . Does anyone have the 'madness'? Don't really know enough about all of the teams to pick a winner, but I saw the ACC championship so I am going to say Duke just to get things rolling :) s-k

Good morning smiling-knife :) ,

I hope your feeling better today.

The Boss is a RABID Tennesse Big Orange Fan, Both Ladies & Men's. Our pool table is even covered in Orange felt, if you have not noticed :) .

I got Knives, the Boss has Sports, mainly NCAA. :)

Duke has always been good in B-Ball.
I check on opinions for you this evening.
I do have a couple of SEC Tennessee Case Knives ::tu::

Just my 50 cent

BTW: Does your Sheffield Book or you have any info on Rodgers Knives, like early stuff or Display pieces? :)
Thanks

Good afternoon 9ball. Well enough to go into work. Not well enough to be of much use. Some of my colleagues said they didn't notice the difference :( Thanks very much for asking ::tu:: . Still have a sore throat...Im wondering if I might have tonsilitis. I'll give it another day or two and if not better make an appointment with the quack. Feeling better since I've had sip of wine or two. Orange felt on a pool table 8) must be quite a sight in person. My Sheffield book has 8 pages on J Rodgers & Sons. One of the heavy hitters in Sheffield knife history. Rodgers goes all the way back to the early 1700s. Is there something in particular that you would like to know? Hopefully, I will have the answer for you. Hope you are having a great day so far. :) s-k

Hello Smiling-Knife :)

I'm sipping on a cool Coors Light i.e. Silver Bullet this fine evening. ::tu::

I asked the Boss for an opinion about "March Madness" :)

The Boss sezs:
"If things go my way the Tennessee Big Orange Volunteers will make it to the Sweet 16 and sadly to say I'm afraid we'll get beat by Michigan State."
Said you would understand, I just work here. :)

Is there some kind of knife/cutlery museum or anything like that there or near you also? I'll send you an email about Rodgers shortly. I got a few other irons in the fire. It's an oddball piece, you will understand.

Good morning 9ball. I hope you are well today. Feeling much better myself. Must have been the thought of seeing the quack that inspired my recovery.

I understand. I think the 'Boss' may be a little overly optimistic about the Vols making the sweet 16 but good luck to them.

There is no specific knife museum, but the two recommended places to visit are the Victoria and Abert museum in London and the Sheffield museum both of which have antique knife collections. Sheffield has a good colection of Rodgers knives apparently. I haven't been there but was considering a trip anyway. Can do it in a day and I'm up for a mission. V & A is only an hour away so could nip in for an afternoon. Send me the detials by pm.

Good morning smiling-knife :) ,

That's Good. I usually feel better about 30 minutes before the appointment, when I need to go. :)

The Boss is very passionate about SEC/NCAA Sports and The Vols. You have to realize that is a "True Fan" talking there. ::tu:: :)

When there is a game on TV or have tickets, I am usually right there by the Boss's side.
When there is a Knife or Knife & Gun show, the Boss is there with me. Except for Cutlery Auctions and that's Good. 8) ::tu::

Too many Cold & Silent rides home!

It's a Two Way Street. ::tu::

I'll send you a private email shortly.
Thanks :D

Well.....

I have not done a lick of work today. The Boston College game got me to watching. Then I got hooked up to the live broadcast on the net, and now I'm listening intently to the Tennessee game. What a game!

Don't tell the boss 9ball, but I'm hoping for an upset  I usually go for the underdog.

s-k... get well soon!

Illinois plays tonight. I'll be rooting for them ::tu::

I heard a little about that this morning, was that the double over time game?

I know something else that keeps the Boss happy also  ::tu::

Very Punny there S-K...

I have to tell the truth though...since both of my young adults graduated from in-state (and bitter) rival Arizona State University, you can imagine that the U of A gets very little love in our household.

Today I had to turn off all connections to the tournament just so I could get some stuff done. :|

I learned yesterday that I don't have the will power to work and listen or watch the games at the same time :?

9ball, my condolences to you and especially the boss for the Vols early exit :( . I thought they were going to pull-it out in the end but alas it was not to be. There have been some very exciting matches so far this weekend. Everyone must be watching the games as the postings in the other categories were fewer than usual. Enjoy what's left of the weekend everyone. ::tu:: s-k.

Greetings Smiling-Knife :) ,

The Boss did well with the lost. The Lady Vols are doing well, I see.
The Boss Sezs:

"I've got Six Months to work in the Yard & Garden before Kick Off"!

I'm more concerned about the money their paying the new Basketball coach, Bruce Pearl. He went from $600K then to 800K to 1.3 Million Dollars U.S. a Year plus the Fine print.
Not bad for his first season here.

If he keeps it up, look for a Commemorative Trapper from Case.

I'll be back ::tu::

Hi 9ball. Glad to hear that the boss is taking the loss reasonably well. I think it has been a very interesting tournament so far especially from the point of the neutral observer. Plenty of great finishes and upsets. This weekend will be somewhat problematic for me as the basketball will clash with the Tournament Players Championship golf. The remote will get a good workout. I better get an extra set of batteries just in case. Take care, :) s-k

p.s. that last knife is a little hard on the eyes 8)
