Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
I went back this morning to see if there was anything I missed, and picked up this conglomerate someone spent some amount of time putting together. All the parts together were worth what the same dealer I dealt with yesterday was selling it for. I might re-do the leather work when I get some time.____Dave

No doubt; and he has gotta be a slick talker too. I just don't have that skill. I just walk away when the numbers aren't there for me. I have a really good friend who can wheel-n-deal when it comes to guns. A fella has got to know his business.Corn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 9:07 pm Scott, you are the Man! No slick talker here....My opening line when looking at more than one? Make me a deal on all of these.....then I say nothing. If he says the number or lower in my head, I stick out my hand to shake his and say DEAL!!!

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Went to my local knife store yesterday to pick up some Sack-Ups and other storage items, and remembered they had some grouped lots of well-used US-made folders priced very well. Most were $30-40, but this one was $60. To me, maybe not as good of a value as the $40 Schrade one, but there were a few patterns that I'd been wanting for some time (the Schrade group is coming home once my funds allow).
Had my work cut out cleaning these. Many had massive amounts (especially the Case Barlow) of pocket lint built up. Pretty sure the reason the Stockman had a snapped spring was from being in a toolbox/tacklebox. They had cleaned the outside (aka polished up the handles and bolsters), but nothing else.
Remington Granddaddy Barlow, guessing 1920s era? Tang stamp is worn off, and there's ZERO snap.
Case Loomfixer, red bone, '40-64 era. Blades are well worn, and there's a small chunk out of the bone. Had to clean gunk out of the blade wells and flush the pivot. However, still sharp, and the springs are still strong as heck (it was described as not having good snap--but cleaning diid the trick). My right middle finger still hurts from closing the pen blade on it.
Case Barlow, 5 dot (1975). Red Delrin handles. Blades are moderately worn (but blunt). Had to probably scrape out two tablespoons of pocket lint with a dental pick.
Case 6347HP Stockman (stainless blades)--1973 (seven dot). The spring layer for the spey and coping blades has snapped. I put in a warranty request to Case to see if they will be able to fix it.
