KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY

This was my cleaver find, made in Pittsburgh, PA. ... I used to see a lot more in the past, but as I said earlier, my sources have disappeared and prices have gone through the roof

What I know about cleavers you could fit in a thimble, Dog, but yours sure does look wicked! What's the lanyard hole for, so you can hang it off your belt as your EDC? lol!
It looks very similar to the cleaver the "Knifeman/butcher" was wielding in the movie "Wanted" with James McAvoy and Angie Jolie, if you even care. Uh, nice cleaver, buddy, I guess!

Just to clarify, Dog, it might could be I ain't never had above 4-of-a-kind, (9's) but I've been beaten by a straight flush beating my Q's over A's full boat! I saw it coming a mile away, but it was only $30. more to call and see it and seeing as I'd never seen one, I called! FYI, it looks pretty much like any other losing hand, it just cost you more!

When I saw these knives, Tony, I wondered if you'd got them from Mark, as he has a copy of the smaller model for sale in his store, but then I read your description and saw they came from a gun show. I guess they follow after the original Marble's Safety knife with their floating guards. Cool stuff!

Mark, the purpose of the guard on this knife is for gutting a deer or other animal. After a small cut in the hide, then use it business side up. The part of the guard at the tip rides against the gut sack so you don't cut it open, while the blade behind the guard tip cuts the hide. Similar to a guthook knife. Then the guard can be folded to the handle, and use the knife for skinning.

That's really interesting, Tony, I had always thought the guard was only for protection from the sharp blade due to it sticking out from the channel. How you explained what it's actually used for had not crossed my mind, and it's brilliant. I've never been a hunter, although, it has fascinated me and I would have enjoyed participating. Thanks for the education!

You're welcome Mark ... this will give you a better picture of how it is used. Then fold the guard into the handle for skinning.

You bet it is, Ike, it's quite the thing to see too, all the guys and gals with their huge cleavers hanging off their belts banging and clanking into each other while they stroll down Main street. But the real treat is when the Mounties dressed in their scarlet uniforms and ranger hats arrive for crowd control and the group hacks them to death, all the while dodging polar bears and chanting, "Kill, kill, kill. One of the Mounties is actually that guy from "Going South" because he needs to supplement his TV monies. This daily event has become so popular that the city admins sitting in their nice warm tee-pees started selling tickets, after their 3rd lunch, mind you. Quite the thing to see. Got it?

Might I ask if the long slim knife on the far-right has any markings saying "Pardue" or "Mel Pardue"? Cuz if it does, you might have a valuable knife there. It's been known to happen; someone pawns or gives away something valuable not knowing it was valuable. Of course it isn't the norm, but you never know. Pardue knives sell for $500.-the sky's the limit! Thx!

No, you weren't wrong, Dog, sometimes it gets so cold (-40 C currently) that our minds start to freeze and our thoughts become confused, so on occasion the Mounties and polar bears will switch roles, and your picture is the result, 'cept the Mounties are now nekid! This doesn't affect the blood and carnage, though, it goes on relentlessly rain or shine, wind and snow. Quite the thing to see.

Zero degrees Kelvin is known as "absolute zero", the point where atoms cease to vibrate, and presumable cease to exist. Or something like that. I did not Google it, this is my poor memory trying to dredge up facts from High School.
Anyway, Kelvin measures temperature from that point. There are no negative degrees Kelvin.
