Picked up another Matt Conable Spire, this one with Quince wood. Here is an updated photo of this group in my collection. 3 of these were done for A.G. Russell. The top one is a William Henry. These were all made by Moki in Seki Japan.

I love those, Mark...super nice group you've collected there. I have the Amber Bone and used to have the Black Lip Pearl model...like so many knives I've sold over the years, I kinda wish I hadn't. Didn't know there was a Quince version until now. Those look great all together like that. ::tu::

Thanks Q. I think there is one more but not certain, I think it’s MOP. I always keep an eye open for these. One of my favorite knives. I love Moki’s but none have a thumb stud, which is something I like on a knife I carry. So these really check all the boxes for me, made by Moki, thumb stud and a lock on the blade plus the excellent fit and finish.

Beautiful pieces Mark! ::tu:: And I have learned of a knifemaker/designer, and a company I did not know about.
Nice read here about Matt Conable. https://www.elevatedmagazines.com/singl ... tt-conable

Thanks Tony. I started a thread last year about William Henry and their expensive knives. They have one for sale that is 42,000 now. They make excellent knives that are pieces of artwork. The ones that were done for A.G. Russell are a bit less expensive. He asked Matt to make a knife that was more in line with what the average person could purchase and he had a few that were under 300 dollars made just for A.G. Russell. When I see those knives on eBay, they usually go for 300 or more today. WH knives are all really nice and they are very good at covering a lifetime warranty.
I appreciate you posting that link.

Thanks Mark, I am. I’ve been focusing lately on knives like this instead of so many different brands. I think it’s a lot more exciting to fill out a collection than it is to buy a lot of less expensive knives. I’d rather sacrifice 2,3 or 4 other purchases to buy that one gem I’m looking for. The hunt is half the fun after all.

Agreed Mark! I am finding that I end up selling a lot of lesser priced, mixed brand knives I have, to make room and funds for higher end ones.
Here is an example: Been working on this Moki Made Lakotas collection for a couple years, as I find them.

I acquired it compliments of JamieInWV ... thanks again Jamie! It is here somewhere.
Still waiting for the Phoenix to show up in the right condition/price to add to this collection.

Very nice Tony. Those Lakota’s are pretty special knives with a unique feature that is patented.

Thanks Mark, I think you mean the way the knife sits upright when putting it down. Unique.
I would like to get some of the Cheyennes Hoffman started with. But, they are like hen's teeth, or I have looking in the wrong places.
