Best is to look on ebay sold listings to see what it would be worth.

Hard to say what an item is worth, especially with just a few words of description and no pictures from which to judge the condition. It’s not easy even with pictures. Recommend reading this https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... hp?t=77592

$54 on average based on the 2 that have recently sold on eBay:

I assume larry1278 hopes being engraved "prototype" makes Trapper #357 more valuable than the other 3,143 Trappers. Who engraved the 357th knife "prototype" and when? ::skeptic::

::hmm:: How can a serial numbered knife also be a “prototype”? That doesn’t make any sense :? ::undecided::

Good call and a very good question.

I’m a cynic and refuse to pay extra for anything marked prototype or anything presented as a salesman sample.

Sadly, commemoratives and the like are commonly misconceived as having greater value than other knives of the same pattern. I bet many of us, including yours truly, have made an ill-advised purchase in our collecting lives. Incidentally, if anyone would like a good deal on the above-mentioned, PM me. Thanks, :D, J.O'.

I agree 100%. In my experience, 2 identical knives, except one has a commemorative/advertising etch on the blade, the commemorative one is always harder to sell, and is worth less money to the buyer.
