I’m a cynic and refuse to pay extra for anything marked prototype or anything presented as a salesman sample.

Sadly, commemoratives and the like are commonly misconceived as having greater value than other knives of the same pattern. I agree 100%. In my experience, 2 identical knives, except one has a commemorative/advertising etch on the blade, the commemorative one is always harder to sell, and is worth less money to the buyer.
