The Uncle Henry Imperial Trout Fisherman

Post by whitebuffalo58 »

Put this one together to throw in my trout fishin' vest. Uncle Henry liners, bolsters and handles. Backsprings are from an Imperial square bolster jack, clip blade from an Imperial toothpick and i'm not really sure what the scissors came out of.

I think I need another sub-forum for my strange concoctions. :D

Thanks guys! I bought a huge batch of parts and parts knives awhile back and it's kind of amazing how many parts are interchangable. Especially amongst the Imperial, Schrade, Camillus and Ulster knives. It's really just a matter of matching thickness of backsprings and blades to the basic shapes of the different patterns. A little trial and error, a few strokes of a file here and there and you can come up with thousands of different combinations.
I'm saving back most of the high end parts like Case, Queen, Cattaraugus, etc..., even a few from Sheffield and Solingen, in hopes of restoring them to their true forms. But, some of these lower end parts are just fun to see what can be created from 'em. Some are kinda strange, but others like this equal end cigar pattern, actually make pretty decent EDC knives.

It's built with liners/bolsters from a Camillus utility/scout. The spear blade and backspring are from an Imperial scout and the pen blade, I think, is from an Ulster jack. The handles are domestic cow horn. The Imperial spear has a somewhat rare italics stamp and I wanted to use it in somehing a bit more traditional.
Anyway, I don't know if you'd call these true mechanic'n or not. But, they are good practice for when I get the chance to get into the better quality restoration knives. And, like I said, it's just good fun.
Thought I should mention, most of these are odd enough to never be mistaken for the real deal and the vast majority will never leave my possession, (except possibly as a gift to friends or family) but I do sign the inside of the liners on every knife, just to be sure. (I wouldn't want Dimitri gettin' on me over in the counterfeit forum :D )
Welp, thanks again for lookin' and the kind comments. I'll probably have a few more of the strange and unusual to post in the future.

P.S. Scott the only pics I have are in old school hard copy. Nothing digital, but i'll see if I can round a few up and scan them to post in the outdoorsman thread.
