The radio station America FM was doing one of its 'Is Anyone Listening?' bits this morning.
The first question was; 'Ever have a celebrity come up with the ' Do you know who I am? ' routine?'

A woman called in and said that a few years ago, while visiting her cattle rancher uncle in Billings , MT ,
She had occasion to go to dinner at a restaurant that does not take reservations . The wait was about 45 minutes;
Many local ranchers and their wives were waiting.

Ted Turner and his ex-wife Jane Fonda came in the restaurant and wanted a table.
The hostess informed them that they'd have to wait 45 minutes.

Jane Fonda asked the hostess, 'Do you know who I am?'
The hostess answered, 'Yes, but you'll have to wait 45 minutes.'

Then Jane asked if the manager was in. When the manager came out, he asked, 'May I help you?'
'Do you know who we are?' both Ted and Jane asked.
Yes, but these folks have been waiting, and I can't put you ahead of them.'

Then Ted asked to speak to the owner. The owner came out, and Jane again asked, 'Do you know who I am?'
The owner answered, 'Yes, I do.
Do you know who I am?
I am the owner of this restaurant and I am a Vietnam Veteran.
Not only will you not get a table ahead of my friends and neighbors who have been waiting here,
But you also will not be eating in my restaurant tonight or any other night.
Good bye.'

Only in America , is this a great country or what?

Ray, I feel as you do about this insult to all veterans to have Hanoi Jane portray Nancy Reagan in the movie, "The Butler". I for one will not watch it and will never forget what she did to the POW's in Hanoi with her VC friends. She should have stayed in Vietnam. As far as I'm concerned she sided with the enemy.

Life imprisonment may have been a more fitting punishment for Hanoi Jane if at the time of the crime, the United States government had the balls to charge her. But that's just living in the past and dwelling on what could have (should have) been.

The Vietnam War was before my time, but I grew up around folks who were there. What Jane Fonda is and did was a disgrace. To have her playing the part of a great patriot's devoted wife is unspeakable.

Cuba is off limits for American citizens too but people go there by going someplace else first, such as Canada or Mexico.




Edit: BTW, it may come as a disappointment to some but the Ted Turner/Jane Fonda story has been around in one form or another since 1996 and before. It's considered an urban legend and has yet to be verified. Considering the main characters, it make you want to believe it though.

She's apologized, sort of, but not quite, multiple times for her actions in North Viet Nam, although she still maintains that going there was not a mistake.
