Bridge moose knife

Post by btrwtr »

Here is a knife that does not look right to me.

Appears to be a very nice old original Bridge Cutlery Co. frame with new blades installed. The combination of glaze finished blades with an etch is very unusual. I believe this knife should have crocus polish on the etch side of the blades and a glaze polish on the pile sides. The edges of the blade tangs look very rounded with a modern tumbled finish look to them. This knife looks bad to me long before looking at the tang stamps.

Not the first questionable knife to be listed by this seller and not the only bad looking knife currently listed. $330 bid with a day to go in the sale.

Odd indeed. What I dislike is the lack of any nice top grinds on the blades which I would expect to see on a knife with that gorgeous handle. I know etches on glaze finish is uncommon but not unknown, I had a mint NYK Co 4" coke bottle with wood scales and it had the Hammer Brand etch in perfect condition and both sides of the blade were glaze finish. I would stay away from this one myself.

This seller has always sold some shade knives, this being one. The thing that gets me is he has a perfect feedback record. If I'm spending any kind of substantial money on a knife, or anything for that matter it better darn tootin be the real deal. Apparently there are more people with money than brains. I gave up a while ago trying to figure it out.

This is the seller I once sent a message advising the knife being offered was a counterfeit. His reply was MYOB, he offers a 14 day no questions asked return, if the buyer thinks it's counterfeit they can return it.

KJ - After a week or so I figured out how to see the ended original listing - so when you click on item that ended a new one comes up as you know but at the top left of the new listing you will see "This listing is no longer available but you may be interested in this one" - Click on the word "Listing" in that sentence and the old item will appear with all info... hope that helps my friend!!
